Yes. And an unobtainable one, from where I'm standing. So we are left to deal with the constant back-and-forth from those who constantly grab for that limited power.

Mmmmmmhn~ I'm more for the "just kill them all" approach of the problem. Power can only be established and held if one has the right type of system backing them up. Remove the system and no kind of dictatorship is going to keep up for long.

Yet the will of mankind does not bend to power alone. No ruler who utterly ignores the freedoms and values of those he rules will be liable to keep up for long, either.

The will of mankind is easily formed and twisted by those who stand atop the system. Not so long ago and your kind thought that it was a virtue to burn women just because they might have been dabbling in the wrong kind of wisdom.

The follies of mankind's past do not negate its triumphs. We may learn slowly, but still we strive to improve and seek ways to make the world better. Any system that attempts to stem this flow is nothing more than a brief countercurrent, perhaps imposed on the basis of misguided morals, but one that can and will be overcome.

[Chuckling at that. It's no pretty sound.]
