Pretty much. If you're anything besides serious and maybe occasionally charming and witty, they won't take you seriously. Unless you have a long time and many opportunities to convinced them, but even while being serious it takes too long.

I guess eccentrics and mad geniuses being revered is all storytelling in the world of detective work, isn't it?

I believe that's her philosophy. She's very cold. Between the Witch of Endless, who can unlock a world of infinity, and the Witch of Certainty, whose magic can grant someone the means and resolution to succeed without fail, she's the stingiest of us all.

Well, not always. It's just being a kid puts all that down a person might have for an eccentric and mad genius. To have both would make it impossible to actually get hired. Especially without connections.

So someone has to work hard for their miracle?

Precisely. ... Who wants to grant a wish to someone who doesn't want to do the work themselves to get there? Granting a wish to an apathetic human would be really annoying. Lady Lambdadelta is fairly revered among humans because she tended to grant the most, but she would only loan her power to those who would certainly make their fate come true.

So Lambdadelta would favor those who have a fate people expect from them at the start and Bernkastel would help that unexpected underdog?

No one can say they aren't lively. And as much as I love them, I was quite happy when they finally started traveling and left me alone for a while.

I think most teenagers would complain when that happens when they're at age fourteen. Took a while before I could take care of the house properly, but it was worth it.
