[He still thinks most everyone on the island is insane. No, he still doesn't believe in all the magic. And yes, he's still trying to find some way to logically explain everything.

But even detective maniac Edogawa Conan needs a break. Which was why today he was taking a break. At present, he was sitting under a tree with a stack of comic books on top of his jacket laying on the ground.

They were Sherlock Holmes comics. He wanted to see if they were any good since he hadn't gotten the chance to read them back home. For the moment, he seems more than content.

...now, really, he's just asking for someone to bug him.]

..what would happen if you did?

Battler wouldn't have anyone to play against and would end up stuck in a game where no progress is made ever again.

Needless to say, he'd lose his chance to fight for a good end for his family.

[Nods.] But what happens to you?

... hoh. I might get to live peacefully in the Golden Land, or I might get dragged back by the two witches I told you about. Hmhmhm.

The Golden Land? That was in the riddle. What is it exactly?

A place of unending prosperity, where all are equal, even the furniture. Because of Battler, I can't open the doors to it.

A place where all are equal?

...ah, I see.

Then I must applaud Battler.

What for? [ cackle! ]

Because the only place all can be equal is death.

... hihihi. So the only way he can truly save his family... my, you figure out quite a bit.

It's not hard to figure out something like that.

It's wrong to let anyone die when you can help it. So stopping you, I can applaud him.

... [ cackle ] Is that really something to applaud?

With every loss, we have to play a new game. Effectively, he's killed his family three times already and revived them to endure that game yet again.

And they don't know, do they? If they did, it would be more than just Battler opposing you.

And even then...

I'm not the type of person to say it's ever okay to stop fighting for a life while there's still a chance.

... I suppose. There is only death without a chance of a good end, or fighting a bloody game until you reach victory. A natural conclusion.

Yeah. Even if it's difficult, even if you might dying doing it, it's better to take that chance. To let someone die when you could help...especially if you could help without even risking your own life is as good as killing them yourself.

Denying peace for the dead in order to give them a chance at life... tche. Another checkmark on the list of reasons why I can call you Chibi-Battler.

In life, there's a chance you can find happiness.

In death...well, there's no certainty for even a chance at anything? It's better to take the one with the partial certainty than the one with none.

Add in Battler's fury at the supposed senseless deaths of his family... his desire to find a true culprit... and his motivations in the game with me are very clear.

He does seem that straight forward kind of guy. Though...usually my motivation is just finding the culprit and the truth, so he has more than me.

I meet that kind of human very rarely. It's refreshing, in all honesty. It'll be a shame if he doesn't follow me to this game board someday. I would like you to meet him.

With the way you talk about him, I am interested in meeting that kind of guy.

... Hoh. I wonder...
