That's cool, so has Ed, off being his usual slightly-reclusive self and blowing things up in his Gilligan-lab to pass the time. Life returns to what passes for normal here, right?

...and then there's the note. Of course your first thought is 'Oh God, another event?' as would be the logical train of thought--

Well, breaking out of where they kept me sort of required that.

They thought you would walk straight to where everything was? And not run away?

Well, first I went to Gongaga, to see my parents.

But they knew I went there, too.

Were the tracking you somehow?

No, it's Shinra. They're just that good at hunting someone down. And I imagine even with the most sneaking I could do, someone like me and my comatose friend would still catch some attention.

But I couldn't leave Cloud behind, even if it had made things easier on me.

Can you... tell me about Cloud?

Cloud's another country boy like me. He came from Nibelheim, the... town that Sephiroth destroyed. [ he's still not too sure on why it suddenly existed again after he broke out of Shinra mansion ] He wanted to be SOLDIER 1st Class too. He really looked up to Sephiroth.

I don't know, for some reason or another, they included him in the experiments. He didn't do well with the poisoning, but the last time I saw him, he snapped out it it.

... It must have been hard for him.

I bet. I've been under SOLDIER training, so I've been exposed to Mako before. I can't imagine what damage it did to him.

I don't even really know what Mako is, I couldn't possibly begin to assume.

It's... pure energy. The life of the planet. I don't know much more than that.

And from the sounds of it, it was not something you wanted to get in touch with.

It can do a lot-- I took on a whole army because of the mako exposure I went through in SOLDIER training. I only fell to the last three. But too much too soon can really damage you.
