[He still thinks most everyone on the island is insane. No, he still doesn't believe in all the magic. And yes, he's still trying to find some way to logically explain everything.

But even detective maniac Edogawa Conan needs a break. Which was why today he was taking a break. At present, he was sitting under a tree with a stack of comic books on top of his jacket laying on the ground.

They were Sherlock Holmes comics. He wanted to see if they were any good since he hadn't gotten the chance to read them back home. For the moment, he seems more than content.

...now, really, he's just asking for someone to bug him.]

[Sighs, running a hand through his hair, the frustration evident on his face.] But I don't have a better solution. She knew the event. I couldn't contradict anything I said during that without making her suspicious. She knew it was a life and death situation.

And I suppose she doesn't know that I'm involved either? [ at least, she didn't seem to notice the older girl acting any different towards her ] For now we can only keep watch of them and see what can be done. I'm waiting a little longer before I can see if I can try to further my research, but given how everything is, it may not be possible.

At least I managed that much. [He's the one who screwed up. At least he didn't manage to drag Haibara down at all.]

The research would be dangerous here. Even if there's no chance those behind this don't find out, it's not like we could run any tests. Kudo Shinichi appears on the island for a while with Edogawa Conan being gone and then they switch back after a short time? Kazuha can't miss that and I suspect that Kaito guy would notice right away too.

[ Not to mention she doesn't carry around the Conan Disguise Kit at a moment's notice. Closing her eyes with a sigh, she shrugs her shoulders. ] Pretending to be children when it's so easy for the secret to be blown in a place like this. Let's just hope we don't have another weekend like that.

[And even then, it becomes the question of where Haibara went and that can only lead to awkward conclusions.]

Kazuha said there was an 'event' where contact with a person caused you to see that person's past.

So, if this was the Cocoon system...it'd mean they have a way to look directly into our minds and could see...everything.

Meaning... meaning that our memories could very well already have been copied and stored away in their data bank. [ Not. Happy. At all. ]

Yes. Which, if it is the case, it's definitely not them as we would be dead. [The only, ONLY bright side to this possibility.]

[ Unfortunately she never was much of an optimist. ] That only means we're temporarily safe. With such information they could go to them to sell it later on. We can't guarantee that we'll be safe just because it isn't the Syndicate behind this.

We can't guarantee, but we could take a guess. First, this project has been going on at least three years. And they seem to go for 'strange' in their people. Whether or not they're doing something to the people...well, we're strange. So it's very possible they wouldn't sell us out because we're interesting and might just be an added bonus for their experiment.

Not only that, they might not risk the Syndicate trying to take them out for knowing. With the information we have, even if they aren't legal, they can't be sure they wouldn't be seen as a threat by the Syndicate.

And this place certainly can't be lacking funds so they'd have to want to pay a pretty penny for you.

We're still at the mercy of whoever is truly behind this. For however long they want to keep up this experiment, unless we can find some way out of here, we're stuck.

[ Sighs. ] The funding required to run what we're speculating requires nothing short of government funding. The Cocoon's original project was high but on this large of a scale-- [ Looking around at their surrounding area as she speaks ] I will say that I am impressed. You can't even tell that it could be a video game.

If we didn't know it was a game, if the setting hadn't obviously been a game, we might not have told when we were in Cocoon before either.

But the fact people say people can die here and come back...what else could it be, but something like that other than a fraud of death?

There has to be something more to here than what we're seeing. I had heard some others mention a barrier that is located somewhere on the island.

Yeah. An invisible barrier that stops anyone from getting beyond a certain distance away from the island.

Part of the programming of this place then.

That would make sense. A program this detailed can only go so far.
