Light, there has been another guy following you. He is very pale and has white hair. He is annoying me, and if he sees you feeding me apples he will want to know why the apples are disappearing....... 8D I only want to eat my apples in peace and quiet. I learned a lot about the other type of shinigami. They are not like you at all. Apparently, they have nothing to do with taking human lives, but they do have several other powers.

Then there is only one course of action I can think of to take at this time. I think I would like to meet the person who is following me...

These shinigami deal with souls that have somehow gone awry in the afterlife, which apparently become Hollows. They are able to purify them and send them on to the afterlife. It seems that they deal strictly in those who have already passed from the world. They have a seemingly organized operation, and they do not seem at all lazy.

More like greeting him and hopefully forcing him to show himself. I doubt he will follow me if he knows that I know that he is following me. There is no stealth at all in that.

Yes, those large shapes you saw are apparently souls gone awry. They are called Hollows.

The shinigami are all deceased humans, as well. That is why they have no lifespans visible and are likely immune to the Death Note. Their power does sound impressive, ranging from healing to combat magic and swordplay as well.

They likely come from a different world. That is why they are not something you would know or recognize.

I think he smiles regardless of whether or not he is happy, in that case. And no, he likely will not be happy.

I thought you would find that interesting. Their power gives them rankings, as well. The Captains are the most powerful and the vice-captains are the second most powerful. All others are beneath their command, apparently.
